Member ProfilePETER KNIGHTLECTURER HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEYINGSECRETARY NZRHS
Peter Knight joined the University of Otago as lecturer in Hydrographic Surveying in June 1997. He has a Masters degree in surveying science from the University of Toronto and worked as a multidisciplinary hydrographer with the Canadian Hydrographic Service. Stephen Taylor is an engineer and hydrographic technician and has worked in the Department of Surveying for the past 18 months. "We see introducing the students to proper field surveys as an essential part of the hydrographic courses program at U. of Otago. In order to mount these field surveys and have in place the software systems for processing and plotting the information we require a team effort, it is very exciting to have two and even three boats out sounding on a given field day." The automated system uses HYDROpro to acquire survey accurate depths and differential GPS position. Peter Knight Member Profiles |
